Commercial Floor Care in Washoe County, Nevada
Floor care for the Truckee Meadows, the north valleys and the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe's north shore.
Washoe County pairs a dense metropolitan core in the Truckee Meadows with a distribution economy that has grown along Interstate 80 and a mountain resort economy at Lake Tahoe - three quite different floor-care problems.
Commercial property in Washoe County
Reno and Sparks form the commercial center of northern Nevada, with office space, regional medical facilities, retail, hospitality, gaming and a very large warehouse and distribution sector. North of the metropolitan area the county runs through Lemmon Valley, Golden Valley, Cold Springs and Spanish Springs into the Smoke Creek Desert and the Black Rock country.
The county's Lake Tahoe frontage at Incline Village and Crystal Bay is a different market again: lodging, restaurants, small retail and community property working to a sharp seasonal rhythm rather than a steady year-round one.

Operating conditions
Washoe County does get winter. Snow, freeze-thaw cycles and the sand and deicing chemistry spread on roads and lots all end up inside the building, carried in on footwear. Deicing residue is the harder of the two on finish: it leaves a white salt bloom, it holds moisture against the floor, and if it is left to be walked in it abrades as well. Entrance zones in this county need more attention between November and March than at any other time of year.
The rest of the year the soil load is high-desert dust, with playa dust from the north of the county on windy days and wildfire ash in some late summers. Humidity is low, so drying between coats is generally fast once a building is warm; an unheated warehouse in January is the opposite case and needs the schedule planned around temperature rather than around hours.
Access and scheduling
Distribution and manufacturing property in Sparks and along the I-80 corridor works to shift patterns, so floor work is usually scheduled into a planned shutdown or a weekend rather than a nightly window. Offices and medical buildings in Reno give ordinary evening and weekend access.
Lake Tahoe lodging is strongly seasonal. The shoulder weeks between the winter and summer seasons are when refinishing is realistic; midwinter and midsummer generally are not.

Washoe County floor-care questions
How much difference does winter deicing residue make?
Enough to be worth planning for. Salt and traction sand tracked in from lots and pavements leave a residue that dulls finish, holds moisture and grinds at the surface underfoot. More frequent entrance-zone scrubbing through the winter months is usually cheaper than restoring the damage afterwards.
Can warehouse floors be worked while the building is running?
Generally in sections, yes, but shift-pattern buildings often make a planned weekend or shutdown more practical than a nightly window. Which one suits depends on the aisle layout and how much of the floor has to stay trafficked.
Is Lake Tahoe property covered from the Washoe County side?
Incline Village and Crystal Bay are in Washoe County and are covered. The south shore communities - Stateline, Zephyr Cove, Kingsbury and Round Hill Village - are in Douglas County and are covered there.
